HERE IS WHERE THE SNOW GOES

A DUMP TRUCK FULL OF SNOW

AND THIS IS WHERE THE SNOW ENDS UP

Once a dump truck is filled with snow here in West Yellowstone, they head to the west end of town to a site known locally as "the old airport".  This is the site where the original airport for West Yellowstone was located.  It is at the very edge of town across from Iris Street and adjacent to Highway 20.

The airport was relocated to a site along Highway 191 north of town several years ago.

They dump the snow here but not just for storage.  In Mid-March the Annual Snowmobile Expo comes to town.  This event requires places for snowmobile races and aerial stunts to take place.

The snow that is removed from the berms along our city streets is transported here and then the city fashions race tracks - jumps for aerial exhibitions and even bleachers for the spectators.
