SCRIPTURE FOR TODAY

The look and content of this blog is making a change.  I will still continue to update you on Yellowstone National Park and the activities going on in the town of West Yellowstone.

 

However, I will, on occasion, drop a scripture in for you.  Living as I do in what is truly a God created environment, I quite often feel that we are closer to God here among His magnificent creation.

 

I am using the Everyday Bible, New Century Version and we are looking at Jeremiah 29:11 which says:

"I say this because I know what I am planning for you. says the Lord.  I have good plans for you, not plans to hurt you.  I will give you hope and a good future."

 

We just need to know and trust that God and God alone has our future in His hands.  We also need to realize that His plan is always the best plan for us and that He has only good things in store for us.

 

When the road is difficult and the storm swirls around you, just remember that He knows the plans He has for you.

Trust him to take care of you.

WINTER IS COMING TO YELLOWSTONE

Make no mistake about it - winter in Yellowstone is coming.  The signs are beginning to show.  The mornings are getting much cooler.  This morning was in the 20 degree range.  The sun comes out and it warms up during the day - but - winter is just around the corner.

 

 

The bears are in their feeding frenzy getting ready for hibernation.  The elk are bugling and the bulls are rounding up and guarding their harems.  The bison rut is over and done for the year.

 

 

If you have never seen our first National Park in the winter, then I encourage you to seriously consider putting that one on your "Bucket List."

 

There is no denying that the Park is beautiful any time of the year - but - my personal opinion is that during the winter it is nothing short of magnificent and absolutely breathtaking.

 

Why not consider a snowmobile or snowcoach trip into the Park this winter to see the beauty.

A YELLOWSTONE SUNDAY

Today is Sunday, September 9, 2012.  Here in West Yellowstone we have what would be a perfect day to make a trip into the park.  Unfortunately, the washer and dryer are both calling my name!!!

Beautiful blue Montana sky, big white fluffy clouds and a moderate temperature of 72 degrees (if my thermometer is correct.)

And so begins another week in Yellowstone National park where the elk are in rut - the bison have just finished their rut - the bears are on a feeding frenzy preparing for hibernation - which will come sooner that we would like - the aspens are beginning to turn gold.

YELLOWSTONE LIVES

The hot pools are bubbling and steaming.  The geysers are still erupting.  Things in Yellowstone are still as amazing as always.

The summer was good.  Soon some of the business establishments in West Yellowstone will be closing for the winter. 

Two weeks ago I was at the Lake Lodge for dinner.  I looked out the window of the Lodge toward  LakeYellowstone and there was the most amazing rainbow that I have ever seen.  It actually began and ended IN the lake.  Unfortunately, I did not have my camera with me so I cannot share it with you.

We have not seen our first snowfall of the year as of yet.  It is actually a little early for that.  However, it can (and often does) snow any month of the year here.  That is part of the beauty of living here.  You never know when you will look out your window and see snow on the ground.

I have been absent from posting for several months, but it is time to get back at it and update you on Yellowstone.

In Yellowstone the bison rut for the year is pretty much over, although some of the big bulls are still not in good humor! 

The elk have begun their bugling and the big bucks are rounding up and protecting their harems.  If you have never heard an elk bugle then I would suggest you get to Yellowstone and listen.  It is a sound you will never forget once you hear it.

The grasses in the meadows have begun to turn and the aspens are in the beginning stages of changing colors.  I know that the fall colors on the east coast are magnificent, but the fall colors here and equally gorgeous.

Traffic in the park is beginning to drop off a little.  School has started and the families are not coming on vacation at this time of year. 

This is a great time to come and visit.  The weather has been great and we have yet to see our first snowfall of the year.

Gather up your jacket and come on out and stay a while.
