KOBUK AND NAKINA - BROTHER AND SISTER

KOBUK ON LEFT
NAKINA ON RIGHT

The last two residents of the Grizzly and Wolf Discovery Center that you will be meeting are Kobuk and Nakina. They are a brother and sister from Delta Junction, Alaska.

They are actually from a litter of triplets. A resident near the community of Delta Junction, Alaska shot and killed their mother and brother. They came to live at the Discovery Center in 1998.

They are about the same size as the native Yellowstone bears and they weigh between 450 and 600 pounds. They are named after the rivers that are near their birthplace in Alaska.

The keepers at the Center say that Kobuk displays confidence when he's interacting with his sister. Nakina pretty much entertains herself in the habitat by searching out fish, bones and hides.

So now you have met all of the barriers that reside at the Grizzly and Wolf Discovery Center in West Yellowstone, Montana.
