CYCLE YELLOWSTONE

CYCLE YELLOWSTONE NATIONAL PARK

Yellowstone National Park will be closing Sunday morning March 15, 2014.  Fear not - it will open to auto traffic on April 18, 2014.  The reason it is closing is so that the road crews in the Park can get the roads plowed and ready for the summer visitors to come and enjoy our First National Park.

However - you can still go into the park - on your bicycle. bicycleYou can ride into Yellowstone for free before it is open to cars and busses.

From West Yellowstone you can ride to Madison Junction and then to the Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone or Mammoth Hot Springs.  The road between Madison and Old Faithful remains closed until April 16.

Don't have a bike - you can rent one at Free Heel and Wheel here in West Yellowstone - or - you can also rollerblade or hike into the park.

Bear in mind - you will have to share the Park with the animals that reside there.  I have never done the bike race into the park but people who make a habit of it tell me it is quite an experience.  The Park is quiet and free from motorized traffic.  It makes for a safe - quiet and most enjoyable day.
