YELLOWSTONE BEARS ARE ON THE MOVE!

THE BEARS OF YELLOWSTONE ARE BEGINNING TO MAKE THEIR APPEARANCE

I have been wondering when we were going to get our first reports of bear sightings.  With spring just around the corner - even though the snow is still pretty deep - we are have all been expectantly waiting for news of the first bear sighting.

On February 11, 2014 a black bear was sighted near the South Entrance to the National Park.

Yesterday a grizzly was spotted near the road in the Hayden Valley area.

Skiers and snowshoers are being warned to take all necessary precautions and to be extremely vigilant when they are in those areas.

However - it is wise to be on guard no matter where in the park you may be.  You never know when more and more bears - both grizzly and black - will be emerging from their winter hibernation.

As always it is wise to remember that they are the permanent residents.  We are merely the visitors.
