COME TO TRAIN DAY

Even though the station still proudly stands in the town of West Yellowstone, you no longer hear the sounds of trains arriving at the depot.

On June 11, 1908 the first passenger train steamed into West Yellowstone, except at that point in time West Yellowstone was named "Boundary".  In 1979 train service to the town of West Yellowstone was suspended permanently. The track that ran from Ashton, Idaho to West Yellowstone was removed.

On Tuesday, June 11, 2013 you can learn more about the great adventure of traveling to West Yellowstone by train. The Historic Center Museum will be hosting a "Train Day" that day.

On that day Paul Shea, curator for the Livingston Museum, will give a presentation regarding his book about the history of West Yellowstone. These presentations will be at 2 P.M. and 6 P.M.

At 1 P.M. and again at 3 P.M. Rawhide Johnson will give a presentation on the history of stagecoach travel and Yellowstone.

If you're interested in the history of either West Yellowstone, Yellowstone National Park, train travel to West Yellowstone or stagecoach travel don't miss these presentations.
