TOWER FALLS CAMPGROUND - YELLOWSTONE

Tent Camping At Tower
Pop-Up Camper at Tower

Although I've never personally done it I can certainly see and understand the desire to experience camping in Yellowstone National Park.

There are several campgrounds in Yellowstone. Some of them are managed by the National Park Service while others are under the direction of  Xanterra Parks and Resorts.

As a general rule, the campgrounds in the park that are under the direction of the National Park Service are on a first-come, first-served basis.

The Tower Campground is one of those National Park Service campgrounds.

This is a small generator free campground, and is located 2 miles south of Tower Junction. This particular campground is open from mid-May to late September. Again, this campground is on a first-come first-served basis and as a general rule, it fills early in the day.

This campground is within a short walking distance of Tower Creek and the sites are located in a mixed pine forests and are best suited for tents and small RVs. There is potable water available from hand pumps and the restroom facilities are vault toilets. There may be some Ranger programs offered at this campground between mid-June in early September.

In addition to the General Store which is nearby the campground, Roosevelt Lodge – 2 miles away – has a restaurant, showers and a horse operation including trail rides, stagecoach rides and a nightly Western cookout.

Should you require a backcountry permit or general hiking information, you will find these available at the Tower Ranger Station.
